Italo Pizzolante Negrón
Italo Pizzolante Negrón is a civil engineer with a master's degree in communication from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, and a PhD from Universidad Jaume I, Castellón, both in Spain. With over 30 years of experience working in the field of Strategic Communication, he founded in 1976 PIZZOLANTE Comunicación Estratégica, and is currently Chairman of the Board. The firm dedicates itself towards management consulting within corporate communications and counts with a prestigious portfolio of regional and multinational clients.
Pizzolante is a prominent lecturer - nationwide and internationally - of various topics such as Strategic Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance, Corporate Reputation, etc. He has also published many books such as: Ingeniería de la Imagen, Editorial UCAB (1993); La Reingeniería del Pensamiento (Editorial Panapo with four editions); Organización y Cultura, la Identidad Corporativa: Chapter "La Geometría de la Comunicación" (Universidad Católica de Murcia, Spain, 2000); El Poder de la Comunicación Estratégica, Reflexiones de un Evangelizador Corporativo (with six editions: AVE-CEDICE 2001, chosen during 2002 as "Book of the Month" in Spain by the prestigious magazine CONTROL; Ediciones Hermes de la Universidad de Medellín, Colombia 2003; la Universidad Pontificia Javeriana, Colombia during 2004 and again in 2005; la Colección Profesional de El Nacional, Venezuela 2006; and the most recent was from the editorial Intermedio del Círculo de Lectores, Colombia 2007). In Spain, he presented with his co-authors the book Gestión de la Comunicación en las organizaciones, in which he wrote the chapters of "Gobierno Corporativo, la Revolución de la Transparencia" and "Portavocía" (Editorial Ariel, Barcelona 2004) and DirCom, Estratega de la Complejidad: Nuevos paradigmas para la Dirección de la Comunicación (edited by Joan Costa, Barcelona 2009). Recently he presented another book in Venezuela, Tres visiones de la Ética y la Responsabilidad Social en la empresa del Siglo XXI (Editorial Norma Color C.A., 2008), with his co-authors Emeterio Gómez and Victor Guedez, in which he wrote the chapter: "La Empresa Socialmente Responsable". He recently published in Spain: De la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial a la Empresa Socialmente Responsable (Universidad Jaume I, Castellón 2009) and is currently preparing: El Desafío de Modelar. Comunicación Estratégica para el Fortalecimiento Institucional, to be published this year.

Pizzolante founded in 1991 an academic course about Communication Management and Corporate Image ("Gerencia de la Comunicación e Imagen") at IESA, Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Gerencia in Venezuela. He is also professor of postgraduate studies in different universities of Latin America. From 1972 to 1980, he was a radio producer and entertainer, and created the Venezuelan TV programs "Ciudadano Corporativo" and "Constructores de un País". Since 1989, in the field of written press, he founded in various newspapers the first specialized section about Corporate Communication. Ever since, he is a journalist in different regional newspapers. Pizzolante has also won many significant national and international recognitions, like the "Gold Quill Awards" of the IABC (International Association of Business Communicators), and the award given by the magazine Publicidad y Mercadeo (P&M) to the "Communication Agency of the Year", which has already been received by the firm in three different occasions.
Pizzolante was also president of Alianza Social of VenAmCham, Venezuelan Association of Executives and a member of the external consulting team that restructured the private sector of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington. Additionally, Pizzolante was a founder-member of the Red Andina de Gobernabilidad Corporativa, promoted by CAF (Corporación Andina de Fomento), as well as a founder-member of numerous initiatives supported by the World Bank/OCDE. He also takes part in the Consultive Council of the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (Harvard University-IESA Venezuela) and of the Advisory Council of IDB in Washington, USA which looks to promote conferences between American countries about Corporate Social Responsibility since 2002.
